The Opportunity:
This is a Group Lead role on the IDC performance team. The candidate will require a minimum of Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering. This role reports to the Performance Manager in Sunnyvale. The individual is expected to have strong communication skills and be able to work with senior management/architects.
Responsibilities:
Represent the IDC performance team and manage the teams deliverables/commitments.
Coach junior members of the team and help build their careers.
Review software specifications & design and develop test plans/strategies for various software application projects
Debug and analyze performance blockers and issues.
Develop and build performance test cases
Execute complex manual and automated performance test cases
Report test results and metrics to the engineering leadership and senior members of the technical team.
Work closely with developers on assigned test projects and help in delivering quality software
Expected to drive innovation and provide solutions to performance related issues.
Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum of 6 years of working experience in performance monitoring/application development/application QA is required.
Minimum of 1 year of management/group lead responsibilities. Candidates that have 8 years of working experience can be considered in lieu of this.
Strong grasp of Java or C++ and object oriented programming concepts.
Strong knowledge of any one of the following Databases (Oracle / Db2 / MSSQL) / Application Servers (Weblogic / Tomcat / Websphere) / OS (Linux / Solaris / AIX) / Webservers (apache, IIS).
Must have experience on non-windows platform and extremely comfortable in Unix based environments.
Experience in debugging performance issues/identifying bottle necks in the application and its corresponding layers. Candidates with a minimum of 3 years of development experience can be considered in lieu of this.
Good knowledge of Loadrunner and/or any other kind of performance testing tools.
Experiences in performance testing and benchmarking/sizing
Experience leading a team of at least 4 engineers
Strong knowledge of Perl
